Sports and leisure activities – from the front door –
Here the sun shines longer, the air is cleaner and clearer, the climate is equable and pleasant, and the winter can be enjoyed to the fullest. Surrounded by the Allgäu Alps, the region is known for its unique variety and beauty of intact nature, cultural wealth and high-class sports events such as the annual ski jumping competition as a prelude to the International Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf.
A network of well-marked walking paths and hiking trails, cycling and mountain bike routes extends from the house and all across the region – at various altitudes, for any level of fitness, and for those who want to hike up to a summit cross.
At the numerous alpine huts you can try the typical Allgäu mountain cheese that is produced locally. The cows come back down to the valley again in the autumn. The so-called “Viehscheid” (cattle drive) is a great festival for young and old.
In the winter, the ski runs of all levels of difficulty are accessible by modern lifts and the local ski schools ensure that you will have lots of fun as a beginner. Carefully groomed cross-country ski trails, guided snowshoe hikes, sled runs, horse-drawn sleigh rides and winter hiking trails round off the extensive offer of activities.
In only one hour by car you can reach world famous Neuschwanstein Castle or many attractions around Lake Constance. The traditional Oktoberfest is held in Munich, only 150 km away. The Bavarian state capital also provides innumerable cultural activities.
